Ways to play: Ask your librarian to do a Great Glasses Day book display

As we get ready for the Great Glasses Play Day, we’ll be posting ideas on ways to celebrate, in a series called “Ways to play“.

As I’ve noted before, vision and reading are intimately related.  A child who struggles to see will not be very successful in reading.  One of the ways to celebrate the Great Glasses Play Day, and to help encourage others to think about the connection between vision and reading is to ask your children’s librarian to do a Great Glasses Play Day book display or story time sometime in the week of August 5th.

There are a lot of great books out there about kids getting glasses.  Two such lists are at the Eye Health Guide and Little Four Eyes.  There are also a lot of fun book series that have characters wearing glasses.
